What Goes Round

Used to believe
That
What goes round comes round,
And we all get even in the end.
And thus
What we give, we'll receive,
And balance prevails.
I awoke,
And with shock I found
That God gives and takes as He likes.
And it would be foolish to pretend
That karma, or man, or fate
Can alter the path that chance prescribes.
What of me?
I lost.
And next time,
Maybe I'll win, maybe I'll lose,
Both bets are sound
But there's no way to choose.
Why so?
Why can we never know?
How can the truth
Fall as dice?
I will wait
Knowing it's a certainty that
At some point,
I'll win.
But how long will that wait b
